A Bit About Me
I am currently a PhD researcher specialising in Artificial Intelligence at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana. I am passionate about machine learning and computer vision. I want to advance scientific research by using new methods in representation learning and deep learning.
At the Responsible Artificial Intelligence Lab, I work on advanced AI projects while I pursue my doctoral studies, which I expect to complete in November 2025. My research mainly focuses on developing novel machine learning methods for image processing. I aim to improve medical imaging and diagnostics using computer vision technologies.
Academics
My academic journey has been very much a blend of technical and interdisciplinary learning:
- PhD in Computer Engineering (KNUST, 2022-2025 expected)
- MA in Christian Ministry with Management (Christian Service University, 2023-2024)
- MPhil in Computer Engineering (KNUST, 2020-2022)
- BSc in Computer Engineering (KNUST, 2015-2019)
Technical Skills
I have developed a strong set of skills that includes:
- Programming Languages: Python, C++, and MATLAB
- AI Frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and Scikit-Learn
- Development Tools: Visual Studio Code, Git, and Bash
- Areas of Specialisation:
- Machine Learning & Deep Learning
- Computer Vision & Representation Learning
- Data Visualisation & Statistical Methods
- High-resolution Image Processing
- Photonics (Systems and Devices)
Professional Experience
Research Leadership
I design and implement various AI projects, manage complex datasets, and contribute to research publications. My work often involves analysing gigapixel images and developing weakly supervised methods for computer vision applications.
Teaching Experience
I have had the opportunity to contribute to KNUST’s Department of Computer Engineering in several teaching roles, including:
- Serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Communication Systems and Information Theory.
- Working as a Teaching Assistant for Microprocessors and Digital Signal Processing courses.
- Supervising labs and organising tutorials for some undergraduate courses.
Research Contributions
I have authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications in respected journals.
Additionally, I serve as a reviewer for leading journals, including Expert Systems with Applications and Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.
Professional Engagement
I actively engage with the global AI community by attending top conferences like PyCon Africa and Deep Learning Indaba, and participating in specialised workshops such as the African Computer Vision Summer School and GIS Methods for Quantitative Spatial Data Analysis. I also maintain memberships in professional organisations including IEEE, the Ghana Institution of Engineering, and the National Society of Black Engineers.
Awards and Recognition
I have been fortunate to receive recognition for my academic excellence, including:
- A PhD Fellowship from the Responsible Artificial Intelligence Lab (2023)
- A Master’s Scholarship from the KNUST Engineering Education Project (2020)
Personal Mission
I am passionate about using artificial intelligence to solve real problems, especially in medical imaging and diagnostics. My goal is to connect research with practical applications that can truly benefit society.
Through my research, teaching, and professional collaborations, I want to make a meaningful contribution to Ghana’s growing AI community while keeping up with global technological advances.
